TUBULIN

Tubulin is a protein, which ranks second after actin in amount in an eukaryotic cell. Tubulin is used to build microtubules. A molecule of tubulin is a dimer, 8 nm long. It consists of the subunits, glycoproteids α-tubulin and β-tubulin, covalently bound by disulfide bridges. It can be said that tubulin, equally with actin and myosin, belongs to the class of proteins responsible for cell movement.
