BASAL BODY
Basal body (kinetosome) is an intracellular unit of eukaruotes. It forms the basis for cilia and flagella and serves as the support for them. Ultrastructure of the basal body is similar to that of the centriole. The length of the basal body is more than the length of centrioles in the cells of the same organism. Basal bodies contain proteins and some RNA.
